5 Steps To Heal Your Body

When I work one-on-one with a client who is living with autoimmunity or chronic illness, they're often surprised by the first lifestyle aspects we hone in on during our time working together.

As someone working in the nutrition industry, these clients tend to assume the first aspect we'll work on refining is their diet, but that isn't the case.

In today's episode of the Unbound Healing Podcast, Michelle and I share 5 steps to heal your body. These are the exact steps we take to work with our nutrition clients, and are simple steps for you to start implementing in your own health journey. The order of importance may surprise you!

5 Steps to Heal Your Body

You can listen to this episode right here.

In this episode, you'll hear us explain the 5 steps to heal your body.

1. Stress & Mindset

Since stress is incredibly pro-inflammatory and weakens the immune system, all health changes start here. In this podcast episode, we share tips for identifying the stress in your life, as well as simple ways you can reduce that stress.

2. Sleep

You need adequate rest to heal, so sleep is also a very important factor in healing your body. Optimizing your sleep is the first step, followed by identifying the amount of sleep that is necessary for you. We explain in this podcast how to do both.

3. Diet

The diet step of healing your body is 2-fold. First is to cut out the inflammatory-for-you foods, followed replacing them with healing foods. Michelle and I recommend testing a certain list of foods through an elimination diet to see how you personally tolerate them. The list of foods we discuss are some of the most commonly problematic foods, but an good elimination diet is necessary to truly understand how your body responds to the foods you eat.

4. Digestion and Gut Health

All health begins in the gut, so it's so important to make sure you’re actually digesting your food. Immunity, absorption of nutrients, mental health (your gut is your second brain and your gut microbiome and brain talk to each other) all play a role in this step.

5. Addressing Your Root Cause

There is no one size fits all. You have to figure out what is ailing you and address it. Get our tips on how to do just that in this episode!
